Lagos Begins Demolition Of Ketu – Ikosi Fruit Market

Amidst sporadic shootings, Lagos state government began demolition of the multimillion Ketu – Ikosi Fruit Market in Lagos Friday morning.

Hundreds of wailing market women claimed that they were not informed about the exercise.

The traders were not allowed to pack their goods as the bulldozers commenced the demolition of the market.

The state government and the market development contractor had Thursday informed the traders that the exercise would begin today.

The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has called for behavioural change among policy makers and families across  South-South and South East zones in order to win the fight against malnutrition.

Transition Committee Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, Canice Mbah has raised the alarm over alleged incessant invasion of their farmland by the Fulani herdsmen in the state.

Alleged Killer Of Oshiomhole’s Aide Set Free

An inmate of Oko Medium Correctional Centre, in Benin, Edo State, Victor Ogunsuyi, who had spent more than 13 years awaiting trial, was yesterday set free by the State Chief Judge, Justice Esohe Ikponmwen.

Ikponmwen  gave the order for Ogunsuyi’s  release during the on-going Correctional Service decongestion visit.

He also ordered the release of Joel Ogbeide, who had spent over six years in custody awaiting trial.  They were among four inmates set free by the outgoing Chief Judge at the Oko Centre.

 Justice Hakeem Oshodi of an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, has rejected the claim by two co-defendants of alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, that a confessional statement was extracted from them was done under duress by the police.

Justice Oshodi on Friday ruled that the defence counsel of Chilaka Ifeanyi (fourth defendant) and Victor Aduba (sixth defendant) did not provide sufficient proof to the court that they were coerced into giving the statements to the police.
