Ex-senator Files ₦3bn Suit Against Police, IGP, Others

A former Senator for Enugu North Senatorial District between 1999 and 2007, Senator Fidelis Okoro, has dragged the Police Service Commission, the Nigeria  Police Force and the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, before the Abuja division of the Federal High Court,  over the alleged killing of his son, Mr John Chukwuemeka Okoro, by a police officer, Mohammed Yusuf. 

The 31- year-old late Chukwuemeka Okoro, was  alleged to have been shot by a policeman  in Gudu area of Abuja  on August 11, 2014

Two Murder Suspects Awaiting Trial Escape From Jail

Two “dangerous” murder suspects escaped from a California jail on Sunday and remain on the loose, according to authorities.

Santos Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, were awaiting trial on unrelated murder charges when they bolted from the Monterey County Adult Detention Facility in Salinas.

“We need the public’s help to be on the lookout” for them, the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Sunday.

Fonseca is 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds, and Salazar is 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Both have black hair and brown eyes, and have been in custody since 2018.

Family Loses 3 Kids As Building Collapses In Ebonyi

Three young children belonging to Mr. Sunday and Mrs. Elizabeth Okereke died in Akaeze, Ebonyi State, yesterday, when their building collapsed while they slept inside.

The bodies of the kids, Mmesoma (11) Onyinyechi (5) and John (3) were removed from the rubble by neigbours who witnessed the incidence and have been buried.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said there was no division among its governors over the 2023 presidential ticket.

National Publicity Secretary,  Kola Ologbondiyan,  at a press briefing in Abuja, yesterday,  dismissed media reports that the opposition party wanted to retain its presidential ticket in the North and South East as speculative.

The Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN) has said about 10 million people were living with the disease in the country.

National President of the association, Dr. Alkali Mohammed, who is also the Chief Medical Director, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, stated this at a town hall meeting organised by the Katsina State chapter of the diabetes association.
