Supreme Court Verdict Won’t Cause Defections, Says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday ruled out any mass defections in the party due to the outcome of the Supreme Court judgment that dismissed the party’s presidential election petition against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The party also raised the alarm over plans by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the outcome of the party’s governorship primary elections in Kogi State with a spurious allegation that the commission did not monitor the primary election, thus questioning its credibility.

FG Gives Conditions For Reopening Of Nigerian Borders

The federal government is not in a hurry to reopen the country’s shut land borders as it unveiled yesterday the conditions that Nigeria’s neighbouring countries must meet before their pleas are heeded.

The government’s position on the border closure was disclosed yesterday in Abuja by the governor Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House.

The Port Harcourt zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has assured investors of Bluekey Investment Club across the Niger Delta of diligent investigation.

EFCC Detains 16 LG Chairmen For Fraud

Nigeria’s anti-fraud office on Friday said it is questioning 16 chairmen of different local governments in Kwara State for alleged misappropriation of N4 billion loan and the state’s internally generated revenue.
EFCC’s spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said the agency gathered that the chairmen after securing the controversial loans, held a meeting and decided that N100m will be shared among themselves from the loan.

The chairmen listed are Risikat Opakunle, Saidu Yaru Musa, Umar Belle, Ayeni Dallas, Fatai Adeniyi Garba, Lah Abdulmumeen, Raliat Funmi Salau, Aminat Omodara, Muyiwa Oladipo.
