HURIWA Advises Buhari On Wife’s Feud With Daura’s Daughter

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to refer the disagreement between his wife, Aisha, and Mamman Daura’s daughter, Fatima, to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) for swift resolution.

The rights group also told the president to, alternatively, consider a quick leave of absence to resolve the issue himself. It warned that it would be unconstitutional if official time and resources were deployed by the presidency on a family feud, which might infringe on the sacred constitutional oath of office the president swore before taking office.

The Police Service Commission (PSC), Tuesday rejected the list of successful candidates for published by the force headquarters in Abuja for training in the ongoing recruitment of ten thousand constables into the force.

At least three persons were injured on Tuesday after a head-on collision of two commercial buses along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos.

According to an eyewitness that spoke with newsmen, a commercial bus illegally took one-way route, outward Oshodi and crashed into another commercial heading towards Oshodi.

A painting by the Nigerian artist responsible for the “African Mona Lisa” sold at auction in London on Tuesday for £1.1 million after the family who owned it googled the signature and realised its importance.

“Christine”, by 20th century master of African modernism Ben Enwonwu, had been in the sitter’s family home ever since it was painted in Lagos in 1971.

At least one person was killed when a seven-story residential building collapsed in Brazil on Tuesday, an official said, as rescuers searched through the rubble for survivors.

Seven people were pulled alive from the wreckage of the building in Fortaleza, the capital of the northeastern Ceara state, after it imploded, sending thick clouds of dust into the air, cell phone footage broadcast by Globo TV showed.

Rescuers were trying to reach two people trapped in the debris, while 10 have been reported by their relatives as missing.
