Buhari Cuts Foreign Trips, Estacodes For Ministers, Others

Nigeria’s President Muhammad Buhari Wednesday reduced the number of foreign trips by ministers, permanent secretaries, chairmen of extra-ministerial departments, chief executive officers and directors, to not more than two in a quarter.

“Except with the express approval of Mr President, ministers, permanent secretaries, chairmen of extra-ministerial departments, chief executive officers and directors are restricted to not more than two foreign travels in a quarter,” the office of the Secretary of the Government of the Federation said in a statement.

Tanker Explosion Destroys Six Buildings, Shops In Onitsha

Not fewer than six buildings and shops were burnt on Wednesday at Upper Iweka, on Onitsha/Awka Road in Onitsha, after a 33,000 litre Diesel tanker fell and caught fire.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra Command, Mr Andrew Kumapayi, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka.

He stated that the incident occurred at about 12:44 p.m.

Archaeologists have uncovered a “huge cache” of more than 20 sealed coffins in the city of Luxor, according to Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities.
The seemingly well-preserved sarcophagi were discovered “as the ancient Egyptians left them,” said an official press statement highlighting their intact engravings and surviving coloration.
Found in Al-Assasif, an ancient necropolis on the west bank of Nile, the coffins were spread out over two levels of a large tomb. The site once formed part of the ancient city of Thebes, the ruins of which are found in present-day Luxor.

The operatives of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service have arrested six illegal immigrants at Idiroko borders in the state.

“When you aid unknown people into your country, without even knowing their aim, it is a big risk,” the comptroller of immigration, Doris Braimah said on Tuesday while parading the suspects.

“It is actually called security threat.”
