Nigeria’s anti-fraud office has declared former chairman of the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP) Okoi Obono-Obla wanted.

Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) said it took the action due to his Obono-Obla’s “repeated failure to appear before it to answer questions bordering on allegations of fraud and corruption”.

Obono is facing allegations of certificate forgery and other corruption-related charges.

“The Commission is in receipt of petitions accusing him of abuse of office, falsification of admission records, living above his income and collection of gratification from suspects under his investigation,” ICPC said in …

Victorious; Weakened, Trudeau Needs Help To Form Council

A weakened Prime Minister Justin Trudeau set out Tuesday to secure the support of smaller parties he will need to form a government after winning Canada’s nail-biter general election but falling short of a majority.

Trudeau’s Liberals took 157 seats in the 338-member House of Commons, down from a comfortable majority of 177 in the last one, official results showed.

Trudeau will thus have to seek some kind of accommodation with the Bloc Quebecois or the New Democratic Party.

Before launching talks with these parties Trudeau greeted people at a subway station in Montreal and posed smiling for selfies.

Britain’s Johnson Races Brexit Clock As Deadline Looms

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson faces two crucial Brexit votes Tuesday that could decide if he still has a reasonable shot at securing his EU divorce by next week’s deadline.

The UK is entering a cliffhanger finale to a drama that has divided families and embittered politics ever since voters backed a split from Britain’s 27 EU allies and trading partners in 2016.

Johnson has set himself a very high bar by promising that he will get Brexit done — “do or die’” — by the twice-delayed October 31 departure date.

The Conservative leader now hopes parliament gives initial support …

President Pinera To Meet With Parties On Street Violence

President Sebastian Pinera was to meet Tuesday with leaders of Chile’s political parties in hopes of finding a way to end street protests that have now claimed 15 lives.

The country’s worst violence in decades erupted Friday and was initially triggered by an increase in metro fares. But it has mushroomed into a broader outcry against social-economic woes including a big gap between rich and poor in a country normally considered one of the most stable in Latin America.

The conservative Pinera declared over the weekend that the country was “at war against a powerful, implacable enemy,” but he adopted

President Donald Trump Claims Impeachment Is A ‘Lynching’

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday likened the impeachment investigation against him to a “lynching,” a racially charged word from the darkest days of America’s slavery legacy.

There was an immediate backlash to Trump’s tweet in which he claimed that impeachment was unfair and stripping him of his legal rights.

“All Republicans must remember what they are witnessing here — a lynching. But we will WIN!,” Trump tweeted.

Kristen Clarke, president of the National Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, said she was “sickened to see Trump’s gross misappropriation of this term today.”

Botswana President Masisi Says Former Leader Left For Good

Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi said Sunday that the defection of his predecessor and former mentor Ian Khama would boost the ruling party’s performance in the upcoming general election.

The dramatic falling out between the former president Khama and his former deputy and hand-picked successor Masisi has shaken the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) ahead of Wednesday’s vote.

The BDP, which has ruled the diamond-rich southern African country since independence in 1966, may face its toughest election yet due to dwindling support and political fragmentation.

Last year, Khama reached the end of his two five-year terms — the constitutional limit — and …

Jones and Hansen are two of the most successful coaches in the modern game, with the New Zealander looking to guide the All Blacks to a third straight World Cup title in Japan 2019 and fourth in total.

But if he is to do that his side must first beat a resurgent England in Yokohama this weekend.
