US House Formalises Trump Impeachment Process

Congress formally opened a new, public phase of its presidential investigation Thursday as US lawmakers voted for the first time to advance the impeachment process against Donald Trump.

“Today, the House takes the next step forward as we establish the procedures for open hearings conducted by the House Intelligence Committee so that the public can see the facts for themselves,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said shortly before the vote.

Israel Arrests Palestinian Leftist Figure Khalida Jarrar

Israeli forces arrested a prominent Palestinian politician from her home in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah overnight on Thursday.

Khalida Jarrar, a former member of the defunct Palestinian Legislative Council, was arrested at 3am local time (00:00 GMT) and taken to an unknown area, local media reported.

According to her daughter Yara Jarrar, the house was surrounded by more than Israeli 70 soldiers who arrived in 12 military vehicles.

“Mom and sister were asleep when they approached,” Yara said in a post on Twitter.

The Nigerian army has refuted claims that it has deployed troops across the states of the federation to begin ‘Operation Positive Identification’ (OPI) exercise.
A number of Nigerian organisations issued travel advisories to their staff concerning the military operation.

A company identified as Bricks told its staff “that residents should move around with valid means of identification, and obey all directives by security agents,” as the army was about to launch a nationwide “Operation Positive Identification”

Cape Town Woman Scammed Of R844k By Catfish On Tinder

A Cape Town woman was allegedly scammed of R844,000 by a person she believed to be the love of her life after meeting on the dating app Tinder, the Hawks said on Wednesday.

Two women and a man have since been arrested in connection with the scam, said Lt-Col Philani Nkwalase.

Gcobisa Sintu was arrested in Port Elizabeth and Tando Magwevana was arrested in East London on October 25 and 26 respectively. A third suspect, Luyanda Bacela, was arrested earlier this month in Cape Town. They have already appeared in court.

Malam Abubakar Abdullahi said that the prolonged rainfall would affect the growth and production of commodities such as beans, sesame and guinea corn.
