SON Approves Pidgin English For Education On Rights

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has approved Law in Pidgin English Radio programme to educate Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots on their rights and privileges.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja during the official presentation of ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certificate and launch of the Law in Pidgin English Radio by an Abuja-based law firm, Ace Solicitors, the Director-General of SON, Osita Aboloma, stated that the law would help to educate Nigerians in a language they understand.

One Killed As Truck Drivers, Taskforce Clash In Ijora

A clash between truck drivers and some operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit at Lilypond area of Apapa on Thursday led to the death of one of the drivers.

According to eyewitness account, the truck drivers had come out enmasss to protest alleged extortion by the taskforce.

5 Dead, 2 Injured In Kaduna Bandits’ Attack – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said five persons died in recent bandits attack in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the attack has displaced residents from 17 villages now taking refuge at Birnin Yero LEA Primary School.

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended four Justices of the Court of Appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointment as justices of the apex court.

They include Justice Adamu Jauro, from the North-east zone; Justice Emmanuel A. Agim, South-south zone; Justice C. Oseji, South-south zone and Justice Helen M. Ogunwumiju from the South-west zone.

Also recommended for appointment as substantive Chief Judge of the Federal High Court is Justice John Tsoho, who has been on acting capacity since July this year.

United States Senators Call For Security Probe Of TikTok

Two senior US senators called for the government to study national security risks possibly posed by Chinese-owned video app TikTok, saying it could leave American users vulnerable to Beijing’s spying.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Senator Tom Cotton asked the Directorate of National Intelligence to “conduct an assessment of the national security risks” posed by TikTok.

“With over 110 million downloads in the US alone, TikTok is a potential counterintelligence threat we cannot ignore,” they said.
