Do Not Associate Christ With Kidnapping, CAN Warns MURIC

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has described statements by the Muslim Rights Concerned (MURIC) on the alleged abduction of nine children in Kano as “reckless, irresponsible and provocative”.

In a statement, CAN warned the Islamic group against associating criminality with Christ.

MURIC Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, while condemning the abduction of the children in a statement on Monday, was quoted as saying that kidnapping was done for Christ.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, on Friday, paraded 49 suspects and a fake police officer, who the police said were responsible for the high rate of criminality in Abuja.

The FCT Police Commissioner Bala Ciroma, while parading the suspects said that they were arrested at different locations in the Federal Capital Territory.

He said the arrest was as a result of the synergy and cooperation among the security agencies.

According to him,  exhibits recovered included seven firearms, two ammunition, 12 cars, 16 cutlasses, charms and others.

The Federal Government has earmarked ₦65 billion for the reintegration of ex-militants under the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
