FG To “Disengage” Over 200,000 N-Power Beneficiaries

Nigerian government is working on how to “disengage” over 200,000 beneficiaries of the government social intervention programme dubbed N-Power, an official has said.

Maryam Uwais, senior special assistant to the President on social investment, in an interview with Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) said she in talks with the finance ministry on the next plan.

“We are trying to see how we can address some of these gaps through these N-power beneficiaries that are meant to be disengaged by end of the year,” Uwais said.

FG Records Over $9.29bn Investment Inflow In Third Quarter

Over $9.29 billion worth investments came into the nation’s economy in the third quarter (Q3) of 2019, according to the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC’s) July to September 2019, Newsletter.

Broken down, NIPC said a total of 13 projects across four states and offshore Nigeria were announced by investors from four countries.

The investments, however, fall short by a whopping $63.79billion year-on-year to Q3 2018, which recorded about $73.08 billion inflows into the country.

Katsina State Police Command has uncovered a rehabilitation centre in Daura, the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari, harbouring no fewer than 300 persons chained on their legs and malnourished.

Chairman of Oyo State National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Asubiojo Olajuwon, has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Olajuwon was said to have been arrested inside the premises of Federal Co-operative College, Eleiyele, at the weekend while holding a meeting with other executive members of the association.
