Nigeria Senate on Tuesday asked the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on federal roads across the country.

The lawmakers made the request during Tuesday’s plenary at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Britain on Tuesday said it was suspending military exports to Turkey following its incursion into northeastern Syria, as it carries out a review of arms sales to its NATO ally.

“We will keep our defence exports to Turkey under very careful and continual review,” Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said in a statement to parliament.

847 Nigerian Soldiers Lost To Boko Haram In Six Years

Chairman of the Senate committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume, on Tuesday, disclosed that a total of 847 Nigerian soldiers had lost their lives to the Boko Haram insurgency in the last six years.
Ndume, who spoke on the recent visit of the National Assembly joint committee on Army to the war theatre in Borno state, said the Army high command gave the casualty figures to the committee last Thursday.
According to him, the Army commander was able to make available a breakdown of the military casualties to the Boko Haram insurgency since 2013.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), says the renewal of the National Identity Card will cost five thousand naira (₦5,000) payable through remita.

Power Disco Uncovers 240,000 Illicit Consumers In Network

The Abuja electricity distribution company (Disco) which distributes electricity to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kogi, Nasarawa and parts of Niger states has reported that up to 240,000 people are illegally connected to its network and consuming electricity unlawfully.

The Disco also disclosed that in nine of the 32 areas of its network, where it has achieved over 80 percent metering penetration, it found that it loses up to 20 percent of its revenue from supplies made to the areas, indicating a prevalence of dishonest practices despite the availability of meter.
