The Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche, has denounced the decision of the Methodist Church in Great Britain to embrace same sex marriage and all other forms of gay and lesbianism, describing them as immoral, unethical and unacceptable.

Uche, who made the condemnation at a press briefing in Lagos, described it as a retrogressive step for a nation that brought Christianity to Africa and laid down firm guidelines on conducts expected of Christians.

Nigerian gay priest in Church of England and fight to marry

A 53-year-old Nigerian priest in the church of England is fighting to marry his partner, also a Nigerian.

As a priest, the Church allows Jide Macaulay to be gay. But an outright marriage to his partner is not permitted. He can live with him in a celibate relationship but cannot get married in the church. He risks losing his job in the Church if he does.
