The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday insisted that the results of the 2019 general election were not transmitted electronically to its server, stressing that the commission only experimented with the technology during some staggered elections held in 2018.

The commission said that the clarification was necessary because of rising controversy on the transmission of 2019 presidential election results from states to the INEC server.

CBN reveals $14.2bn capital flows to Nigeria in five Months

Total capital flows to Nigeria between January and May 2019, stood at $14.2 billion, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revealed last night.

Of the aforementioned amount, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) accounted for $2.87 billion, representing 20.18 per cent of the total amount.

The CBN revealed this in a statement that was signed by its Director, Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, while reacting to a Reuters report which stated that FDIs in the country dropped last year.

The Trump administration has  announced plans to slash hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

The news came after U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the thousands of Central American migrants who have come to the U.S. in search of asylum at the U.S. border with Mexico.

₦900b probe: Senators, Reps to return fake projects funds

Investigators are hitting the road today in search of lawmakers’ ₦900b constituency projects in states.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is verifying constituency projects executed by immediate past senators and members of the House of Representatives.

The commission said it will make recoveries on projects/contracts confirmed to have been inflated or in which contractors underperformed or did not perform at all.

To be verified are 180 key projects in the 36 states at the rate of five per state.

Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has approved suspension of chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors and political appointees of the 27 councils of the state. A 28-year-old woman,  Titilayo Shittu, on  Monday appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly obtaining  N700,000 under false pretences of printing one million dollars for her victim.

Shittu is standing trial for conspiracy, obtaining under false pretences, stealing and breach of the peace.

She, however,  pleaded not guilty.

Over 100 million Nigerians now using the Internet – NCC

Internet users in Nigeria increased marginally to  119,506,430 million in April  2019, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said.

The NCC made this known on Monday in its Monthly Internet Subscribers Data for April posted on its website.

The data showed that overall Internet users increased to 119,506,430   in April from the 115,938,225 recorded in March , showing an increase of  3,568,205 new subscribers.

According to the data, Airtel, MTN and  Globacom  gained more internet subscribers during the month under review, while 9mobile  was  the big loser.

A new report from CBRE, says the rising cost of leasing prime office space accelerated across the globe due to continued economic growth, job gains and limited availability of prime space in certain markets. Of the 122 markets tracked by CBRE, 85 registered cost increases.

CBRE’s annual Global Prime Office Occupancy Costs Report found that average costs for leasing the best office space in each market’s best location increased by 3.6 percent globally in that 12-month period, outpacing the year-earlier gain of 2.4 percent.
