How political parties created logistics problem – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that the  large number of political parties that participated in the 2019 general elections created a lot of logistics problem.

Malam Mohammed Haruna, the National Commissioner in charge of Kwara, Kogi and Nasarawa States,  said this in Ilorin while speaking with journalists.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that INEC organised a workshop in Kwara  to  review  the 2019 general elections.

According to the National Commissioner, there were 799 litigations from the 2019 general elections across the country.

Nigerian Army to upgrade museum to international standard

The Nigerian Army has commenced work on upgrading the army museum at the Mambilla Barracks to international standard.

The army which took a cue from the Arlington National Cemetery Museum in fashioning the Nigerian army museum will also be upgrading the Buratai Museum in Borno State.

For the upgrade to be a success, the army is collaborating with National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) to ensure that the vision of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant, General T.Y Buratai, which is to have a professional responsive Nigerian army in the discharge of its constitutional role is met.

NASS: 3,000 Legislative aides eagerly awaiting ₦8b benefits

About  3, 000 legislative aides who served during the 8th National Assembly between 2015 and 2019 are eagerly awaiting the  payment of their severance benefits which may total about N8 billion.

Some of them are already seeking fresh appointments with the newly inaugurated Senators and Representatives.

The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission in its  Remuneration Package for Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders, Senators, members of the House of Representatives and many of the legislative aides recommends payment of 300% of annual basic pay to them as severance entitlements.

Struggling begins for ₦10b N/Assembly supply contracts

The management of the National Assembly is in the process of awarding contracts worth at least N10billion as part of the efforts to ease the work of the newly inaugurated  109 Senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives.

The contracts, The Nation gathered authoritatively, are in respect of supply of cars, television sets, refrigerators, water dispensers and office equipment such as desk top computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and photo copying machines.

Bank of Industry disbursed over ₦270 billion loans in 2018

The Bank of Industry (BoI) disbursed over N270billion in 2018, the Executive Director, Large Enterprises, Bank of Industry, Mr. Simon Aranonu has said.

Speaking in an interview with The Nation at the weekend, he said, the Bank generated a total of N36billioin as profit within the same period, as against N22 billion made in the previous year.

According to Aranonu, BoI in the last 18 months has also grown its balance sheet from N700b in 2017 to N1.1trillion as of Dec 31 2018.
