An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday sentenced a commercial bus driver, Simon Monday, to three years imprisonment for stealing a bus valued at N750,000.

Magistrate K.K Awoyinka, convicted Monday, 23, following his plea of guilty to a one-count charge of stealing, under Sections 287 (10) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Before handing down the verdict, Mrs Awoyinka asked the convict if he had anything to say.

Fire ruins BRT bus in Lagos

A Bus Rapid Transport bus was on Wednesday burnt beyond recognition on third mainland bridge in Lagos State.

The incident which resulted in a heavy traffic gridlock on the bridge had officials of the Lagos fire service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at the scene to put out the fire and also manage the traffic.

Four pupils of Ugwube primary school of Ugwube, Oba, Idemili South local government area in Anambra state, have been reportedly crushed to death by a driver along Oba/Nnewi old road.

The deceased were said to be on their way home after school hours when the driver, alleged to have suffered a brake failure, rammed into them.
