Alledged oil theft: Navy apprehends Ghanaian, 8 Beninoise

The Navy said yesterday that it had arrested nine foreign nationals alongside two boats and seven trucks, for alleged stolen Petrol Motor Spirit (PMS), near Atlas Cove in Lagos.

The Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, Commodore Ibrahim Shettima, who briefed reporters in Apapa, Lagos, said the arrest happened between May 10 and 12 at Atlas Cove Island and Nigeria- Benin Republic  border.

He said: “On May 10 at about 2am, a patrol team posted to the Atlas Cove Island discovered two trucks containing about 200 x 25 litre plastic cans around Akaraba area on the Atlas Cove Island.

The Swazi government has vehemently denied reports that His Majesty King Mswati III ordered men to marry as many as five wives or risk jail.

There was no such order, government spokesman said. It is fake news.

Reps Okay two State constituencies for Benue

The House of Representatives has approved the creation of two new State constituencies for Benue State.

The approval followed a proposal to the House of Representatives by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the boundaries of Guma State Constituency be altered by creating two state Constituencies.

The new State constituencies created from Guma are Guma State Constituency and Agasha State Constituency.

Attempts by other lawmakers to compel INEC to include their States in the alterations of constituencies considered failed to sail through.

Tiger Woods sued over death of drunk bartender

Tiger Woods has been sued by parents of a bartender at his Florida restaurant who died in a drink driving accident after allegedly being over-served alcohol.

TMZ reported that the parents of Nicholas Immesberger, who died last December at age 24, filed the lawsuit saying their son had worked as a bartender at The Woods in Jupiter, Florida, and knew the golf star personally.

Chinese illegal immigrants in Nigeria: NGO calls for probe

A leading pro-democracy and non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Nigeria, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has urged the National Assembly to investigate claims that Chinese company in Nigeria recruit convicts from their country in Nigeria as technicians.

This followed what it called an extensively damaging public admission by a committee of the House of Representatives that Chinese companies in Nigeria were bringing in prison inmates from China to work as expatriates on many lucrative construction sites paid for by Nigeria.
