2Baba’s wife, Annie Idibia, loses dad to cancer

Annie Idibia, wife of Nigerian music legend 2baba on Wednesday announced the death of her father, Macaulay as a result of an unsuccessful battle with cancer.

The 34 year-old Ibadan born actress, model and mother of two from Eket, Akwa Ibom state took to her Instagram handle @annieidibia1 to wish her father farewell.

“RIP Daddy, You fought Hard #cancersucks #thepainsIsGone,’’ she wrote.

Meanwhile, some Nigerian celebrities took to the comment section of her Instagram to express their condolences.

Police prosecute native doctor for allegedly cheating woman

A 29-year-old native doctor, Terfa Bur,  on Wednesday appeared in a Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court for intimidating and cheating a woman.

Bur, who lives at N0 36, Daniel Amokachi Lane, Makurdi, is charged with criminal breach of Ttust, intimidation and cheating

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Edward Imo, told the court that one Iwuese Adaga reported the case at the ‘D’ Division Police Station, Makurdi on Feb 26.

Imo alleged that the defendant collected N275, 100, from him with a promise to prepare a ”portion” that would help her  give birth to twins.

China builds 158 Internet hospitals to control congestion

China’s medical authority said on Wednesday that 158 Internet hospitals had been built, to address congestion in large urban hospitals amid digital tide.

Mao Qun’an, a director of the National Health Commission, said at the second Digital China Summit that 19 provinces, or over half of China’s provincial-level regions, had established provincial tele-medicine platforms.

The central government has also earmarked 99 million U.S. dollars in special funds to add tele-medical and other equipment in primary-level health institutions in impoverished counties.

The commission is now working to realise online services in second and tertiary hospitals, he said.

Britain’s Prince Harry and wife Meghan gave the world the first glimpse of their “dream” newborn boy on Wednesday — but kept people guessing on what his name will be.

Harry, 34, and 37-year-old Meghan emerged in front of the cameras inside Windsor Castle to show off their son born on Monday, ahead of introducing him to great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

NUC approves establishment of 3 more universities in Imo

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of additional three universities in Imo.
The universities are the University of Science and Technology, Omuna Isiako, University of Creative Technology, Umuna and the University of Medical Sciences, Ogboko.

With the additional three universities, Imo now has five universities, the only state with the highest number of universities in the country.

Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, Executive Secretary of the commission, while receiving the master plan, Academic brief and Environmental impact analysis from Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Tuesday in Abuja, said the universities would meet the needs of the country.
