Two die, 10 injured in accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Two persons were confirmed dead while 10 others sustained injuries in an accident involving a Mazda bus at Danliti Ayetoro area on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway .Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta on Monday.

Akinbiyi explained that the accident occurred around 11am, saying that it was caused by excessive speeding which led to loss of control.

He noted that the commercial bus with registration number DDA 729 XA , after losing control, hit a culvert and summersaulted, adding that the driver and the bus conductor

US top court to weigh in on gay, transgender rights

The nation’s highest court is considering three related cases, one involving a funeral home worker who was fired after telling her employer she was a transgender woman and would be wearing women’s clothing at work.

In the other two cases, gay workers said they were fired by their employers because of their sexual orientation.

The court will decide whether the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans discrimination in the workplace

Senate President Bukola Saraki has charged the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to dwell on facts in his criticism of the leadership of the Senate.

US imposes sanctions on Iranian oil marketers

The Trump administration has announced it will no longer exempt any countries from US sanctions if they continue to buy Iranian oil, increasing economic pressure on the Middle Eastern country.

The White House is stepping up pressure on Iran in a move that primarily affects the five remaining major importers – China and India, and the US treaty allies Japan, South Korea and Turkey.

Gunmen kidnap five-day-old baby in Kogi community

A five-day-old baby allegedly abducted in their home in Ijagbe commmunity, Mopa-Muro Local Government Area, Kogi, is yet to be found 10 days after the incident.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on April 11 when the gunmen invaded the home of Mr Tosin Ojuola and at gun point, forced his wife to surrender the child to them.
