Music Diva, Tiwa Savage is to perform at wireless festival in London alongside with some renowned artists.

The organisers of the Wireless Festival  announced that the singer would join a powerful line up of artists that include Cardi B, Migos, Travis Scott, Future and ASAP Rocky.

The organisers on Wednesday unveiled a new set of artistes who have been included to join the ones previously announced.

Others added to the lineup include Lil Yachty, One Acen, THEY. and Lotto

FG bans Boeing 737 Max airplanes in Nigeria

The Federal Government on Wednesday announced a ban on all Boeing 737 Max airplanes from flying in Nigeria’s airspace until further notice.

There have been questions surrounding the safety of the Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts following its crash in Ethiopia over the weekend, a development which has triggered some reactions from airlines, aviation regulators and the world’s biggest plane maker itself.

Metuh hires new Lawyer to defend alleged ₦400m fraud case

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, has engaged a new lawyer, Abel Oziokor, to continue with his defence at the Federal High Court, Abuja, where he is standing trial on alleged N400 million fraud and money laundering charges.

Oziokor’s appointment comes shortly after Metuh had debriefed his former counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), who had been in charge of the case since 2015, when the trial started.

6 Dead, 59 rescued in Lagos school building collapse

Following the building collapse at Baden Private Primary School at no 10 Dagara Street, Itafaji area of Lagos Island, six persons, including a pregnant woman, have been confirmed dead, while 59 persons have been rescued alive.

The three-storey school building collapsed at about 10am, killing some pupils and trapping hundreds under the rubble. The pupils were said to be in their classrooms when the building suddenly caved in and buried them underneath.

Many of the pupils rescued by first responders were rushed to the Marina General Hospital. As expected, parents have stormed the school in search of their children.

APC, PDP brag ahead of March 23 extra elections

A war of words broke out yesterday between the two major political parties ahead of the March 23 supplementary elections to decide who will control power in six states.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were bragging about their capacity to carry the day.

The Independent National Electoral commission  (INEC) has fixed 23rd March  for supplementary elections in Sokoto, Benue, Adamawa, Plateau, Kano and Bauchi states.

U.S., EU decry election management in Nigeria, urge reforms

The International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) have regretted what they described as the lack of progress in election administration and conduct of political parties in Nigeria.The United States agencies noted that the Nigerian government had not given vent to the 35 per cent affirmative principle captured in the 2006 National Gender Policy, adding that the National Assembly had continually bungled the opportunity to adopt legislation that supports greater participation of women in politics.

APC wins majority seats in Senate

The ruling All Progressives Congress has won 62 out of 109 seats in the Senate. The People’s Democratic Party has 37 seats and the Young Progressives Party secured one.

Although the Senate is made up of 109 seats, the Independent National Electoral Commission has only announced 100 winners as the commission had ordered a rerun in some states

Reruns were held on March 9 in Abia South, Imo West and North, Kogi East, Ondo South, Plateau South, Rivers East, Rivers West, while Bauchi South Senator will be determined by a court.

No South African bailout for Zimbabwe after Ramaphosa visit

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa concluded a much-anticipated visit to Zimbabwe on Tuesday, dashing any lingering hopes that his country would bail out its economically-troubled neighbour.

‘Arrest Akpabio, Ekere now for electoral offences’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom yesterday called on security agencies to arrest the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere and Senator Godswill Akpabio for alleged electoral offences.

It alleged that Ekere and Akpabio committed the offences during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections last Saturday.

PDP spokesman Ini Ememobong made the call at a news conference at the party secretariat on Four Lane, Uyo.
