GAC disagrees with Aregbesola over Sanwo-Olu’s cabinet

The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of the All Progressivåes Congress (APC) in Lagos has faulted the decision of a former Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola to compile a list of candidates that will make the cabinet of the state governor-elect, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, THISDAY can report.

THISDAY checks revealed that Aregbesola’s decision had triggered fresh crisis between the two major groups in Lagos APC namely the GAC, the party’s highest decision-making organ and the Mandate Movement.

Nigerian students, others contribute $42.4bn to US economy

The United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) yesterday disclosed that Nigerians and other international students contributed 42.4 billion dollars to the US in 2017/2018 session.

A senior official of the Bureau, who spoke on condition of anonymity, announced the figure during the tour of the US Community Colleges and Workforce Development programme in Washington D.C on Saturday.

The tour was organised by the Foreign Press Centre, Bureau of Public Affairs, US Department of State to provide foreign journalists with information on opportunity available to foreign students in community college in U.S.

Facebook CEO calls for updated internet regulations

Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg called on Saturday for regulators to play a “more active role” in establishing rules that govern the internet, as the world’s largest social media network struggles to defuse criticism.

Zuckerberg, whose company is under pressure for failing to adequately police content and protect user privacy on its platform, wrote in a Washington Post article that a “standardized approach” for removing content would help keep internet companies “accountable.”

Saudis gained access to Amazon CEO Bezos’ phone

The security chief for Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos said on Saturday that the Saudi government had access to Bezos’ phone and gained private information from it.

Gavin De Becker, a longtime security consultant, said he had concluded his investigation into the publication in January of leaked text messages between Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, a former television anchor who the National Enquirer tabloid newspaper said Bezos was dating.

Innoson Motors to seal GTB head office over ₦8.8b debt

Innoson Motors said it would move to the headquarters of Guaranty Trust Bank in Lagos to effect the judgement of courts that awarded it an estimated N8.8billion.

The company’s spokesman Cornell Osigwe said this in an interview with Daily Trust on Saturday.

Already, Innoson’s agents had sealed seven branches of the bank in Awka and Enugu and plans to take further action by sealing the head office of the top flight bank.

FIFA writes Jalla over alleged financial scandals in NFF

World football governing body (FIFA) may have set the machinery in motion to probe the series of allegation of financial recklessness levelled against top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Former international, Harrison Jalla, had complained to the Investigatory Chamber of the Ethics Committee of FIFA on December 5, 2018, alleging reckless spending by some top officials of the NFF.
