Former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has described the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal last Friday, which nullified the election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola as very strange and unknown to law.

FAAC: FG, States, LGs share ₦619.85bn as revenues

The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris, on Wednesday said the Federal Government shared N619.85 billion, as revenue generated in February to the three tiers of government.

The amount showed an increase of about N9.49 billion from what was shared in January.

Idris, represented by the Director of Funds, Office of the AGF, Mr Mohammed Usman, said this at a news conference at the end of the monthly Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting in Abuja.

NB pioneers solar powered brewery in Africa

Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB) and the CrossBoundary Energy, have announced the signing of Heineken’s first solar project in Africa.

CrossBoundary Energy would be installing and operating a 650 kW solar plant located at NB’s Ibadan Brewery, the solar energy plant will become operational in 2019. The project, according to the promoters, is the first of its kind for Nigeria – a fully-financed solar power purchase agreement for a major Nigerian business customer.

Governor Okowa rewards Super Eagles with $60,000

Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State has again bountifully rewarded the Super Eagles following victories in their 2019 AFCON qualifying match against Seychelles and the prestigious friendly against seven-time African champions Egypt, as he presented a gift of $10,000 to Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr and another $50,000 to the team on Tuesday.

Team Nigeria returns from Special Olympics with 63 medals

Special Olympics Nigeria (SON) athletes returned victorious from the 2019 World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi with 63 medals.

At a welcome reception held in their honour on Tuesday in Lagoa, the athletes and officials were celebrated for being resilient, tenacious and exhibiting good sportsmanship.

Minister allays fears over 2019 budget oil price benchmark

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma, on Wednesday in Abuja allayed fears over the oil price benchmark for the 2019 budget.

There have been concerns by stakeholders that the 60-dollars-per-barrel projection was too ambitious considering the volatility of the international crude market.

But Udoma told a National Assembly joint committee hearing on the 2019 Appropriation Bill that there was no cause of alarm.

2019 Budget Defence: FAAN proposes ₦101.6bn

Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) has proposed a total budget of N101.6 billion for 2019.

The Managing Director, Mr Saleh Dunoma, made the disclosure while defending the 2019 budget proposals of the Authority before the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to him, the Authority is proposing for 2019 a Budget of N101.67 billion as against N88,805,462,776 for 2018 which gives a 14.5 per cent increase.

IPOB: DSS electrocuted me, witness alleges in court

Chidiebere Onwudiwe, a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), on Wednesday, told the Federal High Court, Abuja that officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) allegedly electrocuted him while was in their custody.

Onwudiwe was testifying as a witness in the trial-within-trial ordered by the court to ascertain the veracity of his claim that DSS officials coerced him to give them a statement.
