Pastor, deaconess held for aborting for teenager

The General Overseer of Gloryland Church, Pastor Ekene Samuel, has been arrested for impregnating and procuring abortion for a teenage member of his church identified as Miracle.

Different charms were also found at the residence of Pastor Ekene.

Police said Pastor Ekene charmed and had sex with the 17 years old Miracle in December 2018.

Mobile policeman rapes ATM user at gun point

A mobile policeman in Anambra State, has been detained for allegedly defiling a 35-year-old lady in the premises of one of the new generation banks.

The victim (name withheld) was said to have gone to make some transactions at the bank’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the night when the incident occurred.

Confirming the report, Commissioner of police, Rabiu Ladodo, said the command was still investigating the matter.

He said the command would make the report public after investigation being handled by the state Criminal investigation Department CID, Awka.

Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State has dismissed the claim by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he won the presidential election in Kaduna state.

Jubril (President Muhammadu Buhari) was declared winner of the Feb. 23 presidential election by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having polled 15,191,847 votes, winning in 19 states, to defeat 72 other candidates, including Atiku Abubakar, who scored 11,255,978 votes.

Buhari won in 19 states including Kaduna, Kogi, Niger and Gombe as against Atiku, who won in 17 states and the FCT to occupy the second position.

‘Anambra reiterates promise to pay ₦30,000 minimum wage’

The Anambra Head of Service, Mr Harry Udu, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment toward implementing the new minimum wage as promised.

The head of service made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Friday.

He said the implementation would help motivate civil servants in the state to performing their duties optimally.

Osun election: APC rejects tribunal’s verdict

The All Progressives Congress in the State of Osun has rejected the verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal that declared Ademola Adeleke the winner of the 2018 governorship election in the state.

In a statement signed by the Osun APC director of publicity, research and strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, APC cast doubts on the verdict, noting it will not hold water when contested.

“The verdict cannot stand superior legal scrutiny. Therefore we will appeal against it,” the statement said.

Gabon leader to return Saturday after long illness abroad

Gabonese President Ali Bongo, who is convalescing in Morocco after suffering a stroke five months ago, will return home this weekend for the third time since he fell ill, his office said on Thursday.

Bongo “will leave Morocco to return to Gabon on Saturday March 23,” presidential spokesman Ike Ngouoni said in a statement.

INEC lists condition to issue Okorocha’s return certificate

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday insisted that it would not issue the governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) a return certificate as an elected senator unless a court of competent jurisdiction gives the order.

“The position of the commission has not changed. The position of the commission is that we will not issue certificate of return to Governor Rochas Okorocha in relation to the senatorial election,” INEC’s head of voter education Festus Okoye said at a press conference in Abuja.

BREAKING: Court forces INEC to add Bayelsa units in poll

The Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include omitted units in supplementary election scheduled on Saturday for Brass Constituency 1.

The court presided over by Justice E. Inyang made the order in a motion ex parte filed by Preye Brodrick and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against INEC.
