Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, has applied at the Federal High Court Abuja, for an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him with a Certificate of Return as the Senator- elect for Imo West Senatorial District.

Ban on Okada in Anambra and the rising crime

When Governor Willie Obiano banned the activities of commercial motorcycle operators, popularly called OKADA in Anambra state, I wrote that the ban was ill informed, and would bring high rate of crime in the state.

The reason why the ban was ill timed was because there was no clear cut plan for integrating hundreds of those Okada operators into another trade, or any means of livelihood; and there was no plan to cushion the fallout of the ban.

Atiku in secret meeting with Southern, Middle Belt Leaders

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday met with leaders of the Southern/Middle Belt Forum in Abuja.

The close-door meeting, which lasted for about an hour, took place at the Asokoro, Abuja residence of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clarke.

Those who attended the meeting with Atiku include Middle Belt Leader, Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (rtd); Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; Ohanaeze President, Chief John Nwodo; and Major-Gen. Zamani Lekwot (rtd).

Court declines to stop announcement of Rivers poll results

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja on Wednesday refused to stop the collation of results of Rivers State Governorship and House of Assembly election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 9, 2019.

INEC had last week following the report of its fact finding committee on Rivers election fixed Wednesday, March 20, for the resumption of collation, conclusion and announcement of the remaining results in the election.

The electoral body had suspended the electoral process after some military personnel and armed men invaded it’s collation center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has vowed to reclaim his stolen mandate.

Atiku had approached the Electoral Tribunal, claiming he won the Presidential Election.

The PDP Presidential candidate, who spoke in Abuja during a visit to the leaders of the Southern and Middle Belt regions, said the struggle to reclaim the mandate would be achievable with support of the elders.
