INEC approves 72.7 million to vote

More than 72 million Nigerians have been cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to vote in tomorrow’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

They represent 86.63 per cent of the 84 million registered would-be voters who collected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu said yesterday at his daily news briefing.

Court detains father for raping his 2 daughters

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan on Thursday remanded a father, Phillip Iyiola, 43, who allegedly raped his two daughters.

Iyiola has been remanded pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The police charged Iyiola with rape.

Life expectancy reaches 82.2 years in Beijing

The average life expectancy of Beijing residents reached 82.2 years in 2018, higher than the 2017 figure of 82.15 years, according to Beijing Municipal Health Commission on Thursday.

The infant mortality rate was 2.01 per 1,000, said the commission, adding that both figures of average life expectancy and infant mortality rate were on par with high-income countries.
