Gunmen kill Imo APC ward chairman after meeting

Three armed gunmen Tuesday night, stormed the residence of the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 11 Logara / Umuohiagu, Ngor Opkala Local Council, Ifeanyi Ozoemena, 49, killing him.

The deceased, sources closed to him, disclosed that the hoodlums swooped on the victim shortly he ended a meeting of the party members which he presided over in his capacity as the chairman of the ward. Some members of the party who attended the meeting convened by the deceased, said they were in shock since the news filtered into their ears as they arrived their homes.

Falana urges International Community to sanction El-Rufai

Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Femi Falana, has disclosed that the actions of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, has confirmed that the general election will be a ‘do-or -die affair.’

Responding to the governor’s “body bag” threat, Falana said the prosecution of the governor will commence as soon as his tenure is over.

He asked the international community that has promised to impose visa ban on those inciting violence to make an example of the governor.

SAN challenges AGF to prove bribery allegation against CJN

A senior lawyer Mr Joe Agi SAN has challenged the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, to come up with evidence to support his claim that the $30,000 he (Agi) deposited in the account of the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen was a bribe to compromise the $3.18 billion Paris Club case.

Ballot box snatchers’ll be dealt with – Chief of Army Staff

MILITARY officers with divided loyalty were yesterday ordered to resign.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai said such officers should quit not later than tomorrow.

Gen. Buratai spoke as the Army renewed its pledge to constituted authority, stressing that it will not disobey orders.

Besides, it vowed to deal with “those who seek to undermine our democracy by interfering in our electoral process”.

He said incitement against constituted authority will not be tolerated.

Community’s local authority condemns attack on gas pipeline

The leadership of Batan community in Warri South-West council area of Delta state have condemned the recent attack on the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) gas line in the community.

Fulani herdsmen kill 17 persons in Benue

Suspected Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of Wednesday attacked Ebete, Usha ward in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State and killed no fewer than 17 persons.

Only act of God can stop Saturday’s elections says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday stated that only an ‘act of God’ can stop the conduct of the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly election slated for this Saturday.

Polls: NYSC seeks Police protection for Corps members
